With the resurgence and rise in popularity of the ukulele, the enjoyment of participating, creating, learning and enjoying music has become available to people of all ages and abilities. The ease of playing the ukulele allows the beginner to dive in on their first try while allowing the master musician to take the Ukulele to uncharted territory. Jake Shimabukuro, Hawaiian ukulele virtuoso has done exactly that, taking the instrument to new heights, amazing people the world over. Jake has loved playing ukulele since beginning at the age of 4, has performed thousands of concerts around the world, has released critically acclaimed albums and gone viral on YouTube. Through all this, he finds the most fulfillment in passing the joy of the ukulele to others and opening the door of music to children, teens and adults.
With this passion in mind Jake set out to begin an organization that could lend support and guidance to the growing demand of the ukulele, he formed Four Strings Foundation. With a mission statement “to create new opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the act of making music and to use those experiences as a vehicle to promote personal empowerment and fulfillment.”
Four Strings Foundation has set in place four Core Values. Passion, Community, Expression, Happiness. Music is a personal journey that represents something unique and different to each individual. By encouraging the public to engage with these values through participation in music regardless of the genre, ability level or location, it inherently brings joy. Four Strings Foundation looks to provide individuals with opportunities to express themselves, build and join a community and ultimately use their passion to help achieve happiness.
To create new opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the act of making music and to use those experiences as a vehicle to promote personal empowerment and fulfillment.
